CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Authorities are trying to identify a man who carried a long gun and covered his face with a cream or powder when he robbed a U.S. Bank on Wednesday in Cleveland.
The man threatened two tellers with the gun before he stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank on Harvard Avenue near East 64th Street, the Cleveland Division of the FBI said in a news release.
Investigators are still trying to identify the type of gun used in the robbery, FBI spokeswoman Vicki Anderson said.
The man had an unidentified cream or powder on his face and concealed the gun under a trench coat as he entered the bank shortly after 10 a.m. He pulled the gun out from under his coat when he reached the tellers’ counter, the news release says.
He left the bank and got into what is believed to be a green 1996-1998 Honda Civic with a temporary tag. He struck a telephone pole as he drove away, but continued driving south on Harvard Avenue, the news release says.
The car should have damage to its front bumper, the FBI said.
Reward money is available to anyone with information that could result in the robber’s arrest. Tipsters can remain anonymous when they call the FBI, Cleveland police or Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County, the news release says.
