Family and friends of missing person Melvin Powder are handing out posters today with hopes someone knows where he is.
“He’s a friendly guy,” his sister Gloria Dufresne said. “When he goes out, he talks to anybody. He likes to make friends. He’s not a violent person at all. People might label him as that, but he’s not. He’s a really good guy.”
The search for Powder, 55, began at the Lakeview Apartments in La Ronge, where family was told he was last seen Jan. 3. According to a media release from the RCMP, police believe he may be between the area of La Ronge and Montreal Lake. Dufresne noted she doesn’t think Powder would be in Montreal Lake as he doesn’t know anyone living on the reserve.
Some of the communities Dufresne thinks her brother could be is Fort McMurray, Alta., Fort Smith in the Northwest Territories, Prince Albert, Saskatoon or Wadin Bay. She said people have been looking for him during the last several days, but he hasn’t been seen or heard from.
